Privacy Policy

Meant is an affirmations app for iPhone. This policy explains what information is handled when you use Meant, where it stays, and who else processes it. Your name, typed text and saved affirmation text stay on your iPhone. Apple and RevenueCat process subscriptions. PostHog processes usage, selected preferences and diagnostic information, and Meta measures the results of our own advertising, as described below.
No account
You do not need to create an account to use Meant. We use hosted providers for subscriptions and analytics. These providers can retain information even though Meant does not operate its own app server.
Information stored on your device
Meant stores the following locally on your iPhone:
- The name you choose to enter, if any.
- Your onboarding choices, such as the desires, identity and feelings you select, and your content preferences.
- Saved affirmations, your streak, reading position, reminder settings and appearance choice.
Your name, typed text, private reflections and saved affirmation text are not sent to PostHog or RevenueCat. Codes representing your predefined choices and the content you interact with are sent to PostHog for analytics. Meant matches affirmations to your choices on the device, without runtime AI; your answers are not sent to an AI service. Deleting the app normally deletes this information, unless your device or iCloud backup keeps a copy. Meant does not provide its own cloud sync.
Reminders
If you turn on reminders, Meant asks iOS for notification permission and schedules them locally on your iPhone. No remote notification service is used. Reminder text is a public affirmation and does not include your name or private answers. You can change or turn off reminders in Meant or in iOS Settings.
Widgets
Widgets read dated public affirmations from a shared container on your iPhone. Your name, private choices and reflections are not stored in that container.
Sharing and Photos
When you share an affirmation, Meant creates an image and opens the iOS share sheet; you decide where it goes. Your name and private reflections are not included in the image. Saving an image asks for permission to add to your Photos. Meant can add images but cannot read your photo library.
Purchases and RevenueCat
Meant offers an optional Premium subscription. Payments are processed by Apple; we never receive your payment-card details. We use RevenueCat, Inc. to validate purchases, restore access, manage Premium access, prevent fraud and understand aggregate purchase performance.
RevenueCat may process:
- An automatically generated app user ID and the PostHog analytics identifier used to associate subscription events with usage of Meant.
- Purchase and subscription information, including Apple transaction data.
- Technical information such as device model, operating system, app version, country/storefront and last-seen time.
Your name, onboarding answer values and saved affirmation text are not sent as RevenueCat customer attributes. The PostHog identifier is supplied to RevenueCat so subscription events can be associated with the same analytics profile through its PostHog integration. RevenueCat handles information under its own Privacy Policy.
Analytics and diagnostics — PostHog
We use PostHog to understand how you use Meant, improve its features and investigate errors. Usage and diagnostic information may include:
- App opens, screens, time spent on screens, taps, reading progress, card and Moment identifiers, save/share actions and activation steps.
- Codes for the predefined areas, desires, Moments, blockers, qualities and help preferences you choose; whether you entered a name, but not the name itself.
- Reminder counts and hours, notification permission status, installed-widget counts, streak counts and subscription/trial status.
- App version, operating system and device information, installation age, session and generated user/device identifiers, feature-flag information and crash/error reports.
These events are associated with a persistent analytics profile. We do not send your name, email address, payment-card details, typed text, private reflections or affirmation text in analytics events. However, predefined choice and content codes describe your preferences and activity. These records are pseudonymous, not completely anonymous, and can be associated with subscription information through the RevenueCat integration.
Network requests expose an IP address to the receiving service. Depending on the PostHog project's IP and geolocation settings, it may retain that address and derive approximate location, such as city, region or country. Meant does not request GPS or precise-location access.
The app does not enable session replay or send screen recordings to PostHog. PostHog processes information under its Privacy Policy and the data-processing terms applicable to our use of its service.
Advertising measurement — Meta
Meant shows no advertising inside the app. We advertise Meant on Meta's services (Facebook and Instagram) and use the Meta SDK so that Meta can measure whether those ads led to installs and subscriptions, and improve who sees them.
Meta may receive:
- That the app was installed and opened, and that onboarding was completed, with no details of your answers.
- That a free trial or subscription started or renewed, with the product and price, sent by the app or by RevenueCat on our behalf.
- An anonymous identifier generated by the Meta SDK, the identifier for vendor, your IP address, and device, operating-system and app-version information.
We do not send Meta your name, typed text, private reflections, the choices you make in the app or the affirmations you read, save or share. Meant does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites and does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA); measurement relies on Apple's SKAdNetwork and Meta's aggregated measurement. We do not sell information to data brokers, and we do not access your contacts or calendar. Meta handles information under its Privacy Policy. Apple may separately provide aggregated App Store and crash statistics according to your Apple privacy settings.
How information is used
- To show affirmations, Topics, Moments, reminders and widgets that match your choices, on your device.
- To process, validate and restore Premium purchases and decide whether Premium is available.
- To prevent purchase fraud and troubleshoot purchase problems.
- To understand feature usage, onboarding and subscription conversion, improve Meant and investigate crashes.
- To answer you when you contact support.
Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information and do not show you advertising in the app. Information is processed by Apple for purchases, RevenueCat for subscriptions, PostHog for analytics and diagnostics, and Meta for measuring our own advertising, as described above. Service providers are required to protect information under the applicable agreements and privacy obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Support email
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply and keep it only as long as needed to help you. Meant does not automatically send support emails or attach your private choices. This is separate from the analytics events described above.
Retention and deletion
Information on your device stays there until you delete it or delete the app, subject to device backups. Deleting Meant does not automatically erase records already held by PostHog, RevenueCat, Meta or Apple. Analytics events and profiles are retained according to the retention settings and service terms applicable to our PostHog project, for the purposes described here. Purchase records may be retained to validate subscriptions, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations. We do not claim that these services immediately discard your information. Contact us to request access or deletion; we may need information that lets us locate your pseudonymous records. We will not ask you to send payment-card details. Some transaction records must be retained where required by law.
Children
Meant is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can address it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK, Brazil (LGPD) and California, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of personal information about you. You control locally stored information on your device. For access, correction, deletion or an objection concerning information processed by PostHog, RevenueCat or Meta, contact us and we will help identify the relevant records and handle your request. If processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it; this does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account subscription settings and restore purchases from within Meant.
International processing
Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog and Meta may process information outside the country where you live. Hosting region depends on the service and project configuration. Applicable contractual and legal safeguards govern international transfers; contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your request.
Changes
We may update this policy when Meant changes or when the law requires. The date at the top shows the latest version.
